Update: 5/20/05

Peanut is a sweet 3½-year-old small brindle female, born February 2001. Peanut came to GALT as a stray from the Fort Worth Animal Control. Like many of the GALT's strays, her right ear is double tattooed, so her life up to now remains a mystery. Also, like many of the strays, Peanut is positive to Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease. She is currently being treated for this, and her foster mom is monitoring her closely. It is not known at this time if Peanut is small animal or cat tolerant.

The special medical treatment cost needed by Peanut is why the Miss Mesa Fund was established. If you would like to help with Peanut's care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You can use a credit card, check or PayPal by making the donation through the GALT GreytStore. You can also write a check (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, P.O. Box 680, Addison, TX 75001) and note Miss Mesa Fund/Peanut on your check.

Alternately, you can make a donation using PayPal by clicking on the
button below. (The PayPal screen should appear in a new browser window;
to return to GALT, close the PayPal window when you're finished making
your donation.)

Miss Mesa Fund

You WILL and CAN make a difference in Peanut's life and the lives of other greyhounds in need of special medical care. Your help and support will make a greyhound at a time.

Update 5/20/05
Peanut continues to be asymptomatic for Ehrlichia. Her treatment was extended for 2 weeks, and she was retested May 15. Her titers have significantly decreased, and it is expected she can go forward with her spay, dental, etc.

Update 2/3/05
Peanut finished her first round of meds and was retested two weeks subsequent to then. Her Ehrlichia titers are elevated now, so she is receiving a second round of medication for another 30-45 days. She appears to be asymptomatic at this time.
