Blanket

Update: 8/27/11

Blanket is a 12-week-old light fawn male born approximately June 8, 2011. He was seized from a Fort Worth home along with his mother Faith and 7 sister puppies on July 6, 2011. The eight puppies varied in weight from 3.5 to 4.9 pounds. Blanket was covered in ticks and fleas, which were thankfully mostly dead by the time GALT received him from FWACC. He has been initially treated for intestinal parasites. The environment in which he was living was horrible and unsanitary. Sevin dust was used for flea and tick control, so Blanket is being closely monitored for any abnormal behavior or condition.

Blanket was named by Elizabeth Signorile.

Update 8/27/11
Blanket is growing, growing, growing, and all the puppies are tipping the scale from 10.5 pounds to 13.4 pounds! What a greyt improvement! Each puppy is being treated again for intestinal parasites, with the hope of getting rid of these pesky critters for GOOD! There is no sign of coughing or upper respiratory infection at this time.

Update 7/27/11
About 10 days ago all of the puppies started coughing, so intensive antibiotics were prescribed by Dr. Christy Soileau on July 18. Several of the pups seem to be less enthusiastic about eating than others, so the Puppy Patrol, along with GALT's foster mother Mary, focused on those, especially Liberty and Rachel.

On Saturday, July 23 four of the pups were moved to another foster family, Ellie and Stew, so Angel, Blanket, Jaguar and Rachel were separated from Lexi, Liberty, Diablo and Nina, who stayed with foster mom Mary. As of July 27th, everyone seems to be doing well except for Liberty, who was taken to VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital with a 104.8 temperature.

Because of the disgusting conditions of the area where Faith and the pups were found, it is touch and go with their health; the sevin dust that they were exposed to could cause illness at any time, not to mention the horrific environment infested with parasites. Updates will be posted periodically.
