MESA FUND Getty Updated: 7/17/03
ADOPTED TO HIS FOREVER HOME! Getty, aka Serengeti Nitrus, born December 1991, is an 11-year-old brindle male found as a stray on the streets of Dallas. We have no idea what his life has been up to now. Although Getty's appearance is one of a healthy greyhound, he unfortunately is heartworm positive, which at his age can be a complication. In addition, he displays signs of arthritis in his rear legs, which causes him to walk very stiffly. He is currently undergoing treatment for the heartworms, and he will be in his foster home while he is recuperating. Heartworm treatment is expensive and very dangerous for the greyhound, and even more so for Getty who is older. The special medical treatment cost needed by Getty is why the Miss Mesa Fund was established. If you would like to help with Getty's care, please take a moment to write a check (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, P. O. Box 680, Addison, TX 75001) and note Miss Mesa Fund/Getty on your check. Alternately,
you can make a donation using PayPal by clicking on the You WILL and CAN make a difference in Getty's life and the lives of other greyhounds in need of special medical care. Whatever is left of Getty's life needs to be the best we can provide for him. Your help and support will make a difference...one greyhound at a time. See Greyhound-Data.com for Pedigree. Update on Getty: 4/15/03 Getty's
heartworm treatment took place several weeks ago and he continues to stay
quiet in his foster home with Bart.
Ty, his foster mom, has a mattress for him to lie on to make his getting
up and down a little easier. His back legs and haunches continue to be
unstable. Getty has
tested negative for Heartworms, but is now experiencing something similar
to a pinched nerve in his neck. He is on restricted activity and medication
to see if this helps. |
