Sweet Pea Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea is an approximately 4 to 6-year-old fawn female. Sweet Pea was one of 11 dogs taken into custody by Ft. Worth Animal Control Cruelty Investigators on August 11, 2010, from a residence in Ft. Worth. She was covered with ticks and had a heavy burden of intestinal parasites. You can see her pictures at the time she was picked up here. She had positive titers to Ehrlichia, Babesia and Lyme. Successful teatment for these, as well as the intestinal parasites, has been completed. Her physical condition indicates she has had pups in the past nine months. A PCR test, as well as a fecal test, both show her to be negative to all tick borne diseases and intestinal parasites.

Sweet Pea is not cat tolerant and will be tested with small animals at a later date.

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea really lives up to her name! She loves affection and will make someone a great lap dog, if you let her! Some of her favorite things are soft squeaky toys, treats, and roaching. She has playful streak in her and will jump around with her toys or play with other dogs, but her playfulness will subside into a nap within minutes. She can be a bit clumsy when she plays, bumping into tables and knocking some things around, but she knows not what she does in her enthusiasm.

She also enjoys a vigorous back scratching against the carpet, starting off on one side of the room and worming her way to the other in no time. But really, she'd prefer to sit on the couch and watch TV with you, although currently she is not allowed on the couch in my home and can easily be trained so. If you don't let her on your lap, she will happily sit on your foot and keep it warm for you.

When no one is home, she is baby gated in kitchen and does well in there. I'm sure she could jump the baby gate if she tried, but she has never tried. She can be a counter surfer, so all food and trash should be kept out of reach. She has been doing very well with her potty training and can hold it through the night without problems. In the morning, she usually gives off a throaty yodel - I think it's her way of saying good morning! She rides well in the car and likes to co-pilot. Sweet Pea gets lots of compliments about her beautiful white diamond on the back of her neck, but really, it's her eyes that will get you every time!
