GALTX

Shelby, aka RC Ohh Lala is a 4 year old red brindle female born July 9, 2013. Shelby was found as a stray in Everman, TX. Everman Animal Control Officers were called to a resident's yard to capture a collapsed greyhound - it was Shelby - weighing only 38 pounds. Shelby's sire is TNT Star Wars, and her dam is RC All Fired Up. She has no races to her credit on Greyhound-Data, and her industry owner has no knowledge of her whereabouts at all. Shelby arrived with a positive titer to Ehrlichia Canis, and she has completed treatment with a negative PCR test (Polymerase Chain Reaction). Shelby has gained some much needed weight and is ready to find her forever home! Shelby is not considered to be cat tolerant.

Watch more of Shelby

Most of us have had one of those children, or know one, the kid who marches to their own beat. Shelby is just such a child, er, a dog. Shelby, aka, batdog for her black ears and muzzle, is just full of personality as well as great looks. Shelby, for instance, does not bark. She is not silent. She just roos her comments. Some of her roos are closer to whines when she wants her desires met. Shelby is the last one to go outside and the last one in. She takes her time finding a clean restroom, exploring under and through shrubs. She sniffs the air. She stares at…….everything. She can use a dog door, but she prefers to wait for her staff to open the door for her. Shelby is a toy redistributer. She’ll also redistribute socks, scarves, paper, shoes, all without harming anything. All toy boxes are emptied at least once each day. This girl crates well-running to her crate for her nighttime treat after final turnout. She is good on a lead. She will ride well in the car, but she still prefers her staff to lift her into the vehicle. A lovely trait is that when necessary, it is very easy to administer medicine to Shelby. Mealtimes are always interesting with Shelby. Having arrived at only 38 pounds, one might imagine that she’d eat with gusto anything offered to her. But, this is Shelby. Thus far Shelby is happiest with kibble mixed with some canned. She’d prefer you stay and watch her lap and chew and stir her food for greater accessibility. She is, however, very neat. If a piece of kibble drops, she retrieves it before continuing with her meal. We enjoy watching her relish her treats and toys, sometimes playing with others and sometimes enjoying some quiet moments alone. Remember those stunning good looks we mentioned? Shelby has a ski jump nose, making her look like she is always smiling. This is not a bad thing at all. You can both smile and giggle at her cute snaggle teeth showing through that permanent smile.
