Duke, aka Duke Devil, is a striking, dark brindle, almost 2-year-old male born May 15, 2006. His sire is the Irish-bred Pacific Mile and his dam is Out of Line, making his grand sire Gable Dodge. Duke's 8-race career started at Valley Race Park in Harlingen on December 12, 2007, and ended there on January 20, 2008. Duke is ready to find his forever couch!
Duke's cat test was iffy at first. He seemed very interested and kind of pounced at Molly when he first saw her. Molly would have none of that; she reared up, hissed, and landed a few well-placed slaps on Duke's muzzle and he backed off. He seemed to be thinking: "Well, that is not a very nice toy!" After that Duke would just give her some sideways glances when he saw her, and she did not show any fear of him. Duke is cat trainable, but as always with introducing new kitties, use caution and a muzzle. Too bad Molly can't dress up as a small dog - but Duke might know the difference. We'll have to test him with small dogs later.

Duke, a very sweet and loveable boy, has adjusted very nicely to his new foster home. He enjoys his meals as he is a slow eater and knows he has to wait his turn at feeding time. Duke was not crazy about getting in his crate at first but has accepted it when he does have to be crated.
He sleeps crated through the night without a sound and only in the morning while waiting for his breakfast does he bark. He may also bark from his crate once he realizes that I am back home, if he is crated during the day. Of course, he is very excited to get out and see his human buddies as are our other two greyhounds in our home.
Duke likes to play with his stuffed animals, especially in the morning after coming in from outside and again after dinner having come in from outside. He is not destructive with the stuffed toys, but he does like to chew paper products on occasion. We are working on that.
If our two cats are frisky he will show interest and run after them, but a firm "No kitty" and he stops cold!
If you are looking for a younger boy with a bit of playfulness, then this almost 2 year old "Duke" would be a great addition to your family. He gets along fine with the other greyhounds but could be an only dog. Of course, he is definitely cat trainable. Duke is eager to find his forever family and would love to meet you!
