GALTX

China is a 7 year old white & red female born in 2010. She was part of the population from the blood bank facility located in Cherokee, TX that closed in November 2017. China is being medically evaluated by GALT's veterinarians and hopefully will complete her medical procedures soon. China is not considered to be cat tolerant. Please check back periodically for updates on China as her journey to a forever home unfolds.

China is a sweet, petite girl who loves to play with toys. If you have a lot of toys, she will make herself right at home. She is figuring out home life, and once she gets to know you, she will start to show a bit of Velcro tendencies and follow you from room to room. But, if she finds what you are doing boring, she will go off and take a nap or play with more toys. She hasn't taken much to using a doggie door, although I've tried. She just doesn't seem to like the idea of using her head to push it open. She's not a counter surfer, and although she will eat her food with gusto, she is not used to people food and hasn't had any interest in people treats (i.e. cheese). In lots of ways this is ideal, but if you use cheese to give pills, you might be better off with pill pockets (she is not currently on any medicine, so this is more of an FYI). She is crated when no one is home and does really well; I leave a toy in the crate with her. I've been gone up to 6 hours and she didn't have any accidents. When home, I leave the crate door open and sometimes she will go in on her own to nap. She doesn't seem bothered by rain but we have not experienced any storms, so I don't know how she reacts, if at all, to thunder and lightening. It's best to keep cords out of sight so she doesn't chew them. She is learning, and will get there with some correction and attention. And, this is not an ""all the time"" thing. She would love to snuggle on a couch with you and fall asleep, if you let her. She was not allowed on the couch here but that is your call to make. Overall, she is a sweet girl who will warm up once she learns the ropes in your home. China is not cat or small dog safe. She is good as an only dog in an apartment or with another large dog. China really likes scritches and ear rubs, and her fur is really soft - perfect for cuddling!
