MESA FUND Help House a Hound Have you reached your limit on household fur but would still like to help our hounds? Greyhound Adoption League of Texas receives its greyhounds from many sources - breeders, trainers, owner releases, shelters, and strays. In addition to these sources, GALT has operated for the past four years as the exclusive adoption outlet for greyhounds retiring, grading out, and hurt at Valley Race Park in Harlingen, TX, a seasonal track running from November to April of each year. For the 2006-2007 season, GALT pulled a total of 122 greyhounds from VRP. The last 43 were received Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Houn House, with 4 more arriving the following Tuesday. Thankfully, GPA Houston and GPA Texarkana have helped GALT by taking 7 and 3 of these dogs respectively. At this time GALT has 31 greyhounds boarded at Houn House. These greys will be processed as adoptions and new foster homes open up. Providing quality care for the hounds-in-waiting simply requires a lot of money. The average stay for an adoptable hound is approximately 4 weeks. GALT's daily cost to board and care for hounds not in foster homes is $6 per day per dog which includes the following:
GALT provides each dog with the following items which are in addition to the $6 per day per dog expense:
There are several ways you can help GALT's hounds waiting for their forever homes:
Fill out the form, mail it to P O. Box 680, Addison, TX 75001 or give to a GALT representative, or go to the GALT GreytStore to donate online! CONTRIBUTIONS Deepest thanks to those listed below who have helped house a hound:
