GALT’S FIRST BROKEN LEGS OF
THE VRP 2007-08 SEASON!

Well, it's Monday, November 05, 2007, and Valley Race Park in Harlingen opens on Friday, November 23. A call was received before 9am this morning saying there were two greyhounds with badly broken hocks already. They had suffered these injuries from two separate collisions during schooling trials. A call was made immediately to Michael and Jane Scott, who live in Austin, and are mom and dad to Cali. Michael is a private pilot and said, "let me see if I can rearrange a few things", and before you could blink an eye, Michael and Jane were on their way to Harlingen to pick up Cabot and Wizard at 3pm in their plane. The boys arrived at Millionaire FBO at Addison Airport at 6pm, along with their escorts, aka guardian angels, Jane and Michael. They are resting now at VCA Preston Park Animal Hospital, and tomorrow, Tuesday, Dr. Jeff Ellis will evaluate their broken right hocks.

Cabot is an 18-month-old dark brindle male whose sire is Dodgem By Design, making his grand sire the late famous Gable Dodge. Obviously he was expected to follow in his sire's footsteps, but that was not to be....his future as a racer has been cancelled. Cabot is now on his "forever home" highway, and after a lengthy recuperation with his broken hock, we know he will find it.

If you would like to help with Cabot's care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You can use a credit card, check or PayPal by making the donation through the GALT GreytStore. You can also write a check (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, P.O. Box 680, Addison, TX 75001) and note Miss Mesa Fund/Cabot on your check.

Alternately, you can make a donation using PayPal by clicking on the

Cabot

Wizard, aka Serena's Wizard, is a 3/½ year old red brindle male whose sire is Kiowa Sweet Trey, making his grand sire Oswald Cobblepot. Look at Wizard’s record and you will see he had quite a promising racing career. But now he is headed towards his forever home, which will be found after his extensive recovery.

The special medical treatment cost needed by Wizard is why the Miss Mesa Fund was established. If you would like to help with Wizard's care, please take a moment to make a donation to the fund. You can use a credit card, check or PayPal by making the donation through the GALT GreytStore. You can also write a check (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, P.O. Both Cabot and Wizard may have "lost" at Valley Race Park today, but we all know they have "won" in the adoption arena.

Greytest thanks to Jane and Michael for their continued generous support in helping GALT’s greys - for again the 3rd time in flying greys from Harlingen to Dallas.
