Zinnia

ADOPTED TO HER FOREVER HOME!
Zinnia is a beautiful 2-year-old brindle-and-white female born May 5,
2005. Zinnia is the "B" pup in the litter, and she was not individually
registered with the NGA. Her sire is Oneco Spirit, making her grand sire
the late Gable Dodge, and her dam is KB's Easy Lark, making her great
grand sire Molotov - note the beautiful white throat which is Molotov's
trademark. The four that were registered and named in her litter were
all names starting with a "Z" – hence, GALT's "Zinnia."
When Zinnia arrived she was VERY pregnant. Zinnia was among several
greyhounds found as strays by Fort Worth Animal Control, the other being
GALT's Lily. Zinnia's owner was
contacted, and of course he could not imagine how she arrived in Fort
Worth, as she came from the area south of Austin - let alone pregnant!
Thursday, July 19, 2007 was the day
Zinnia had her puppies - Clover, Fern, Ash, Basil, Saffron, Quince and
Kale!
From Zinnia's foster mom:
Zinnia is an elegant young Greyhound, with her shining dark brindle coat
that is highlighted by the white blaze on her chest and face. Her white
socks and the white on the tip of her tail reflect her personality -
more fun-loving than sophisticated; she is a happy girl who adores
people and loves to play with other dogs.
Zinnia quickly learned to use the dog door, and is completely house
trained with the dog door. She must have lived in a home before, because
she bounded up the stairs with no hesitation the first time she saw them. Since Zinnia is young and playful, she is crated when no one is
home. She is happiest when she is within sight of her foster mom, and
will lay on a dog bed, surreptitiously shredding a piece of paper till
Mom figures out what's going on and asks her to stop.

Zinnia plays with the other large dogs in her foster home, but prefers
to be inside rather than basking in the sun. She will grab a stuffed toy
to squeak when she lays on her dog bed, and will pick up any chewie that
another dog is silly enough to leave unattended. If her foster mom
happens to go into the food room, Zinnia is right there waiting for a
treat. She's not pushy about it, she just knows that she deserves a
treat and needs to be close to get the best one. Occasionally she'll sit
for a treat, but it's not a consistent trick – yet!
Zinnia is as close to a perfect dog as a young grey can be: she's always
happy, with a tail that does a helicopter wag when you call her name.
Zinnia is outgoing and affectionate, with a love of life and a curiosity
to match. She will be a wonderful friend and companion in a family that
includes her in activities. Another dog to play with would fulfill her
life's dream.
Zinnia has lived with small, short-haired dogs and was quite submissive
to the toy Manchester queen of the house. Zinnia is not cat tolerant.
